The protective role of Brazilian propolis in chronic kidney disease
If bad genes, diabetes or lifestyle factors are wreaking havoc on your kidneys, you may benefit from supplementing with Brazilian propolis. This is suggested by a small trial in which 500 milligrams of Brazilian propolis per day reduces the concentration of protein in the urine in patients with chronic kidney disease.
Study
The subjects in one group received a placebo daily for 12 months. The subjects in the other group received 250 milligrams of Brazilian propolis twice a day. So the test subjects consumed 500 milligrams of Brazilian propolis every day. The researchers used Green Propolis EPP-AF, a supplement from Apis Flora. Apis Flora did not sponsor the study.
Results
Supplementation with Brazilian propolis reduced the the UACR of the test subjects. It should be noted that even after a year of supplementation, the UACR of both groups of test subjects was still in the red zone.

Mechanism
In the trial on which this post is based, there was a tendency for Brazilian propolis supplementation to reduce the concentration of MCP-1 in the urine.
