Looking for a one hundred percent safe and effective pre-workout formula? Try chicken soup...
Pre-workout supplementation works, but some companies sometimes put risky and experimental substances in their formulas. Athletes who prefer to avoid pre-workout products will undoubtedly find the human study that Ghent scientists published in the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition interesting.
Study
The chicken soup contained the histidine dipeptides carnosine and anserine. The subjects were given 46.4 milligrams of histidine dipeptides per kilogram of body weight.
These dipeptides were not present in the vegan soup.
Results
Mechanism
The researchers had expected that chicken soup would activate the antioxidant glutathione, but this was not the case.
