Study
In 2007, psychologists at the University of Santa Clara in California published a survey in which they asked 49 students to complete questionnaires about their diet and dreams.

Results
The researchers discovered statistically significant links between dietary habits and dreams. Students with a preference for organic foods dreamed more and more pleasantly than students who preferred to eat junk food.

The students in the first category ate more fruit and vegetables, mostly organically grown. They were more likely to have recurring dreams, more likely to have meaningful dreams, and more often to dream about risky ventures, sex, water, and flying.

A high intake of unhealthy snacks such as chips and a diet high in carbohydrates also stood in the way of dreams.

"With 25 percent of the adult population in the USA visiting fast food restaurants each day, the interaction of unhealthy foods and changes in reports in frequency of dream activity should be studied", the Californians wrote.

"Research must include larger samples of men and women from a wider age range, multiple assessment methods, and more sophisticated analyses."
