Researchers from the University Medical Center of Johannes Gutenberg in Mainz, Germany, had 30 healthy subjects aged 18-59 years fast for 3 months. This meant that the subjects were allowed to eat whatever they wanted during an 8-hour period of the 24-hour period, but not outside this time frame.

During the experiment, the researchers measured the psychological functioning of the test subjects with questionnaires.

Results
For most study participants, part-time fasting was doable. Only 14.3 percent of the subjects stopped halfway through the trial.
