Animal study: hormone balance restored with difficulty after course of monster steroid dimethandrolone
The new dimethylnandrolone undecanoate powerfully suppresses the body's own testosterone production, but after a course of this monster steroid the testes recover. At least the American research company BIQUAL says they do, in a study about to be published in the Journal of Andrology. But a close reading of this animal study reveals that the term 'recovery' should be taken with a pinch of salt.
The researchers gave dimethandrolone-undecanoate in oral form to their lab animals. For 12-13 weeks the animals were given a daily 1, 2.5, 5 or 10 mg of the steroid per kg bodyweight. As a contraceptive, the 2.5 mg/kg/day was the most effective dose. With the higher doses the hormone concentration in the testes rose so much that the animals became fertile again.
The figure below shows how the amount of sperm increased again in the animals after week 13. The lower figure shows how the animals' testosterone level recovered. Hmm – recovered…. DMAU = dimethandrolone-undecanoate; vehicle = placebo.
The table above shows the total testosterone and FSH production during the course of treatment [week 0-12] and afterwards [week 14-30].
If you look closely at the table you'll see that the FSH and testosterone levels in the rabbits rose again after the treatment. But if you look at the graph above the table you will notice that in week 30 the testosterone level in the 5 mg group was just above the detectable limit. The 5 mg dose is probably about what chemical athletes are likely to use.
These results are anything but reassuring. The researchers on the other hand think they are enough reason to continue the development of the new substance. It's time to try the new stuff out on non-human primates.
Dimethandrolone is already available on the black market.
