Researchers from Beijing Sport University traced 10 trials in the scientific literature in which for subjects not only did cardio interval training but also followed a low-carbohydrate diet. The trials lasted 2-14 weeks.

One of the 10 studies involved healthy athletes. The subjects in the other studies were healthy but not physically active on one occasion, overweight on another occasion and diabetic or (pre-)diabetic on other occasions.

The researchers aggregated the results of the trials and re-analyzed them.
