In January 2018 we wrote about the SARM GSK20881078, which researchers at GlaxoSmithKline are now testing on humans. Doping hunters keep a close eye on GSK20881078, and have already developed a test for it. [Eur J Mass Spectrom (Chichester). 2018 Feb;24(1):145-56.] The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism will soon publish a human study, which for the first time gives an idea of the anabolic effect of GSK20881078 in humans. However, the study also suggests that GSK20881078 may have serious side effects.

Study
The researchers gave GSK20881078 to 100 healthy over-50s for 8 weeks. The subjects were both male and female, and received different doses.

Results
The men who took 4 milligrams of GSK20881078 every day gained one and a half kilos of lean body mass over a period of 8 weeks. Women who used 1.5 milligrams of GSK2088078 daily, gained 3 kilos of lean body mass.

GSK2088078 works. But it seems that GSK2088078 may also have some serious side effects. The amount of total testosterone in the men went back two-thirds during their SARM treatment. Two weeks after the end of the course the testosterone levels had not yet recovered.

Something similar is the case with free testosterone, although the matter is more subtle there.

Also take a look at the effect on the HDL mirror. It drops by 30-45 percent. Oi.

The side effects above are measured midway through the cycle. What the side effects are after 8 weeks, we do not know, when the cycle had ended. The researchers, who have been paid by or even work at the company that wants to put GSK2088078 on the market, have not measured it. Or they would rather not tell us.

Conclusion
"GSK20881078 was found to produce potentially clinically significant increases in lean mass with a differential dose response between sexes," the researchers write. "Changes in clinical chemistry were consistent with those previously reported for other SARs and were relatively mild, monitorable, and reversible in nature."

"Further research is now planned to study the effects of the lean mass gains observed."

An anticipatory hmm...
If GSK20881078 will soon appear on the black market - undoubtedly with imaginative names such as GeSKadrol-1078 or GeSKavar - we honestly expect that this SARM will have serious side effects. If at a dosage of 4 milligrams of GSK20881078 the HDL level decreases by 40 percent within 4 weeks, what happens when a cycle of 8 weeks with a daily dose of 20 milligrams?
